Bill Gross, Founder and CEO
Distributed World Power, founded February 2008, is one of many entries in Bill's long history of starting innovative,
impactful companies. Bill also founded Idealab and has served as its Chairman of the Board and CEO since its formation
in 1996. In the intervening time, Idealab founded more than 40 companies. Bill has a BS in engineering from Caltech
and currently serves on the boards of directors of numerous companies and is also a member of the Board of Trustees
of California Institute of Technology and the Art Center College of Design. |

James Burgess, Co-Founder and VP of Product Development
James brings diverse product development experience to the DWP team.
His background includes startups focused on robotics, semi-conductors, and alternative energy, and he
even started his own film production company and produced a documentary in Vietnam.
Most recently, he was the Director of
Systems Engineering in a solar startup company developing advanced energy
products for commercial applications. James studied mechanical and
electrical engineering at Caltech, and enjoys adventure sports,
songwriting, travel, photography and film, and is an avid paraglider and private pilot. |

John Howard, Co-Founder and VP of Business Development
John brings international experience to DWP in the private, public and social sectors.
Previously he helped establish a water purification startup, a rural connectivity nonprofit,
and worked at McKinsey & Company on international development, microfinance and high tech
strategy in the US, EU, Middle East and Asia. He also worked as a systems
engineer at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory and a robotics startup. John
studied mechanical engineering and economics at Caltech and Cambridge, and
enjoys travel, reading, piano, and tennis.

Ghyrn Loveness, Project Engineer
Ghyrn is a Stanford graduate student in Mechanical Engineering with a focus
in Energy Systems. He received his BA in Physics and BS in Mechanical
Engineering from Pomona College and the California Institute of Technology.
His passion for energy technology developed through his work at AeroVironment,
Inc. and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. Through his
leadership of the Entrepreneurs Club at Caltech, he mentored several
Caltech technology startups and learned about the technology transfer process.
Ghyrn is an avid pilot with multiple ratings and endorsements.

Amit Shah, Director of Operations and Marketing
Amit has a depth of experience in international operations strategy.
Before joining DWP, he was a management consultant with McKinsey & Company
working on manufacturing operations, supply chain management and business strategy.
While at McKinsey, he also researched global climate change issues, understanding
the economic value for companies to go green. He received his BS and MS in
Industrial and Operations Engineering at the University of Michigan and
works with the Tauber Institute for Global Operations. Amit also enjoys
flying airplanes, practicing martial arts, and volunteering with the Make-a-Wish foundation.
